Just another update

Just talk

Just thought I'd throw an update out there. I haven't blogged here in over a year, and that trend is likely to continue into the foreseeable future.

I recently moved off-campus to a lovely little apartment. I like the privacy and the space, but I do miss having constant access to the internet.

Just talk

Here's what's new in the life of Spinlock... it's been awhile since I last blogged, but a lot has happened in the past month and it's time to bring everybody up to date. More on Slack 11, look-alikes, Linux on a laptop, and why you shouldn't judge a Macbook by your imagination after the jump.

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I registered to reply to a comment, and since I've got my own blog...

Anyway, you can check here for my adventures in Slax Linux, as well as whatever else I pick up along the way. I've got great plans for some of the old computers I have lying around, and I'll update as I learn things. I've got things to say, but I don't have so much time to say them... Oh well, that's life when you're in spinlock.

Here are five full-featured Slack alternatives — tools that go beyond IRC, in other words — that are open-source software, which means you can download it and run it on whatever server you want. That implies that you’re in charge of security, for better or worse, instead of, say, Slack. Read more
