Noticing the popularity of the Internet Wikipedia in which users add and edit material, all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies have created their own secure version.
The same open-source software was used in April to create what some 3,600 intelligence workers have dubbed Intellipedia, The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
The CIA and other agencies came under ridicule after the March 2003 invasion of Iraq failed to turn up any weapons of mass destruction as some agencies had claimed existed and others had disputed.
