A friend of mine asked me to give him a Linux distribution as soon as possible, so I decided to see if PCLinuxOS was fine for him right now. I also decided to test their early implementation of KDE 4.
I performed a system update after installing PCLinuxOS from the MiniMe ISO and prepared to install KDE 4. As per a moderator’s post, I installed ‘task-kde4-minimal’ as it seemed logical to update the already minimal KDE 3.5.10 to a minimal KDE 4.3 setup. Any extra packages I would need were installed later. I followed the message prompting me to logout and then reboot from the console screen. The packages aren’t split in detail like Arch or a few other distros but they’re like the regular KDE modules which is manageable.
