VESTAL, N.Y. - A research facility for Linux computer operating system is being established at Binghamton University.
School and industry officials today announced the creation of the Linux Technology Center on the Vestal campus, just west of Binghamton.Linux is an open-source operating system available to the public without requiring royalties.Those involved in developing the SUNY research initiative say the center may lead to economic growth in the Binghamton area.I-B-M is providing some equipment for the facility, including server and storage products, along with software and personnel.
