I decided yesterday that I am not going with these linux laptop companies various computers but a ThinkPad r60 celeron 1GB ram and intelr wireless card and installing ubuntu myself.

has anyone done this?

I know how to spell Linux and Ubuntu but am not a command line junky. I am a neophyte with 8 years of interest in linux. I am making the plunge. None of the linux companies have impressed me for many negative reasons. so has anyone done this?

Is anyone that KNOWS Linux and Ubuntu DapperDrake willing to help me get this going? I am a mac OS X dude and hate windows with a passion. I do not want to buy this windows based machine only to not get linux ubuntu on it and then have to give it away because i refuse to run windows ever again in my life!
