Sector's Edge, a fast-paced destructive voxel-based FPS may see Linux support
I do love a good bit of destruction and Sector's Edge looks quite interesting, the developer is also open to supporting Linux.
In reply to a comment on YouTube asking about Linux support, the developer said "We're 95% cross-platform, so hopefully in the near future I can get a Linux build working" so that's quite positive!

Starbound 1.4 'Bounty Hunter' update coming soon, now available for testing
Chucklefish haven't given up updating Starbound just yet, with a major update due soon that adds some fun sounding features.
As the name obviously suggests, Bounty Hunting is the theme of this update which Chucklefish say will include new procedurally generated quests, that see you hunting down criminal gangs. There's also new "Peacekeeper stations" that allow you to work your way through promotions, along with criminal gang hideouts, boss fights and new related events that all sound pretty fun.

Stardew Valley is set to get bigger with a new map, separate money option for multiplayer
Stardew Valley is a seriously lovely game, one I keep going back to quite often and the upcoming 1.4 update sounds like it's going to be pretty interesting.
Back in December last year, Barone said in a blog post that they've now taken back full control of the game from Chucklefish to self-publish (well, almost, except for the Switch and mobile). They're working on a new game, set in the same world as Stardew Valley but the new game has gone on the back-burner while they work on new content for Stardew.

Inspired by the likes of Marble Madness and Marble Blast, Birdwall Games just recently put their fast paced 3D-platformer Marble Skies on Linux.

Jupiter Hell, the roguelike spiritual successor to DRL (DoomRL) continues getting better
Rip and tear! Something like that anyway. Jupiter Hell continues advancing towards Early Access, with a new beta build out that I took for a spin.
Jupiter Hell, for those not following is being developed by ChaosForge and it serves as the spiritual successor to DRL (originally called DoomRL before legal issues). Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, it's seen regular updates for backers. I personally backed it, although the developer also decided to give me access earlier.
The latest update includes a change to weapon slots, no longer being specialised to certain weapon types so you can now carry whatever you want which makes it less tedious. There's also improved level generation; medals to earn which are hard to get; more statistics like tracking your time (hello speed-running); advanced versions of the double shotgun, auto shotgun, revolver and hunter rifle; rockets are more common and so on. What's interesting, is that the next major version will include a new area, a new faction, a rewritten AI and possibly more so it's sounding very exciting.

Indie title 'Classic Racers' brings some cheap hill-climbing thrills to Linux
It might not have the production values that Codemasters are able to achieve but Classic Racers still looks like a reasonably good hill-climb racer and it's now on Linux.
Linux support arrived with the 1.2 update released a few days ago. With that, it also introduces an early implementation for supporting steering-wheels, rumble support, graphics and UI upgrades, an unlocked frame rate (it was locked to 60FPS before) and so on.

Dwarf Fortress inspired space station building 'Starmancer' now in alpha with new footage
I go a little bit crazy for building sims, especially when they have a space sci-fi elements like Starmancer and the style is simply amazing.
The developer, Ominux Games, just recently released the alpha build (which is available on Linux). Sadly, only those who pledged for alpha access during the original Kickstarter will get access to it.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |
