The Best Alternatives to Photoshop

  • The Best Alternatives to Photoshop

Gimp may be as old as time - and a free download for the whole of that duration - but do get off your high horse for it's not an app to sniff at.

Available not just for OS and Windows but also GNU/Linux, Gimp (or GIMP to use its official name) gives you all the basic features of Photoshop including a few brushes.

Less of a designer's choice and more for an artist or studio creative dabbling in quick photo correction, Gimp continues to be updated and its website remains simple to use without looking old-fashion, packed with tutorials and even a Wiki to help guide you.

  • GIMP 2.10.12 Released with Bug Fixes, Other Improvements

GIMP is one of the finest open-source apps out there but, like all software, it suffers from unexpected bugs, glitches and crashes.

A number of notable niggles were discovered soon after the release of GIMP 2.10.10 back in April, including issues with brush formats, unintended changing of foreground/background colors in tool presets, and “crashes for various reasons”.

Enter the latest point release in the 2.10.x series, GIMP 2.10.12. This update sands, smooths and solves many of these rough edges (while no-doubt introducing a few more).
