Ubuntu Tidbits
I created this post to document all of the small things I do on my Ubuntu systems to make them customized for me. My hope is that people who want to do similar things will learn from my experiences.
Tips include:
1. Add a password to the screensaver (a common policy at work)
2. Make "List View" the default in the File Browser (Nautilus)
3. Increase the Terminal scroll-back history
4. Add a button on the top panel to start an application
5. Making applications start automatically after a reboot
6. Display the usage of your system resources
7. Monitor the weather in your area
8. Monitor your Gmail account
Also:
In this guide we're gonna talk about customization, we're gonna make Ubuntu look and feel the way we want, so lets start!
