New MacOS and Linux virus found in the wild
I have just come across some news while reading my daily news fix of a new virus that has been released into the wild that effect the Mac and Linux operating systems This virus is apparently very virulent and quite destructive. It gains entry through a previously unknown kernel flaw that is inherent in all unix type kernels. So far there is no patch available.
I did some research and obtained a copy of the virus simply by visiting an effected web site. It immediately took over my kernel and and started replicating itself in the slack space of the hard drives filesystems. Thus hiding itself from detection by virus scanners as they work today. Once it reached a significant population it attempted to fsck my whole system. If I hadn't been ready for it I also would have been fsck'd The only way to get rid of it was to boot into a live cd and replace the kernel and clean the file systems slack space.

It was too good to be true
Luckily we only have one April's Fool day a year ... LOL

The end is nigh
What's up with everyone this year? A developer on a Linux application mailing list has announced his intention to replace vi in his code with notepad. (Secretly, I'd like him to replace vi with something.) The announcement provoked quite a discussion. I don't know which worries me more - the announcement or the response.
LOL
This is why I don't read news sites on April 1st...
