GIMPshop: The GIMP Graphics Package With Photoshop Look-And-Feel

Software

One of the major graphics programs in the free software domain has been GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). It has similar capabilities as Adobe Photoshop and can be used for a variety of tasks, including photo editing and image composition. GIMPshop was designed to specifically ease the transition for Photoshop users.

While the functionalities of GIMP and Photoshop largely overlap, window layout, options, tools, and menus have evolved independently and are quite different. This causes frustration for people who want to switch from Photoshop to GIMP or vice versa. GIMPshop, however, looks and feels much more like Photoshop.

Full Story.

The Original UI is Better

If I were introduced to the GIMP, I'd try to learn its regular UI, which increases productivity. And before someone argues that it's wishful thinking, I /did/ use Photoshop and Paintshop for many years. The GIMP gets it right. It's just less conventional (how many people complain about the Ribbon?).
