See ya around Vista and dumping Ubuntu 7.04

I have pretty much quit using Vista and Ubuntu 7.04 after several hardware compatibility errors and software errors I decided to move back to Windows XP and 2000 Server. So why did I make this decision? Why earlier versions of Windows. Three words: compatibility, reliability and predictability.

Windows Vista was fine technically. I didnt have a bunch of issues with it but the issues I did have were indeed showstoppers.

So whats wrong with Ubuntu 7.04? simply put. 7.04 sucks. If this is supposed to be a Windows killer they have some major work to do. First, they include the crappy Prism54 driver which everyone knows is flawed and it wouldnt detect the 3 wireless USB adaptors or 1 PCMCIA card that I have. Blacklist it and use ndiswrapper right?

Vista/Ubuntu

I have only tried Vista on a friend's PC which was much faster than mine anyway, but it was useless, for all the hype
Change for changes sake . My preference is still Win2kSP4, but I've tried many linux's, mostly with hardware configuration problems due to VIA chipsets on both my P3s; 667Mhz & 600, so neither are fast
However, I recently came across Puppylinux, a live CD distro, and not only did it find all my hardware, after a bit of help from the excellent forum, I got my wifi configured and working
It's small, fast and very user friendly, especially for linux noobs like me
I recommend you try it I'm using v 2.14 but there's others, some specialised for media/graphics, others for VMs
