Too Many Linux Distros Makes For Open-Source Mess

Remember the 1980s worries about how the "forking" of Unix could hurt that operating system's chances for adoption? That was nothing compared to the mess we've got today with Linux, where upwards of 300 distributions vie for the attention of computer users seeking an alternative to Windows.
Precisely how many distros there are is probably unknown, since anyone with a some spare time on their hands can create one. (Check out Linux from scratch, which "provides you with step-by-step instructions for building your own customized Linux system entirely from source.")
Let's agree that the authoritative figure is 359, since that's the number of distros on the list maintained by DistroWatch.com.

Another crappy article
What's the aim of putting a link to such a stupid article ?
Who cares that this "unknown-in-the-whole-world" guy think there are too many distros ?
"So I'll grant readers that, if there's anything amiss with my argument"
But WHAT argument ? There is nothing in his short article that can stand for a piece of argument. That's just his opinion.
The only thing I can think of is that his website had a decrease in visitors number and he had to reverse this, for money matters. Hence the stupid title, made to volontarily irritate people and make them come.
That's the inconvenient with the web : people that wouldn't had usually access to paper publishing can in fact publish their "feeling of the moment" that most people don't care of.
Pity.
