Linspire is doomed. No, they haven’t signed an unholy alliance with ID Software involving pre-installing DOOM on all Linspire computers. In my opinion, they are doomed to die a painful death in the operating system world. Why? Read on to find out.
Problem 1: White noise
Recently, Linspire/Freespire has really not had much to set it apart from other GNU/Linux systems like Ubuntu or SuSE. The Linspire site has an article containing ten reasons to move to Linspire. In order, it lists cost, CNR (the Linspire package manager), ease of use, Windows file-compatibility, lifetime license, security, stability, internet safety, open source, and money-back guarantee.

Linspire had reputed $5 million revenue ? Now what ?
Linspire had preinstalled hdd, and some dedicated computers sold online. Linspire is for single operating system or only dual boot with windows.
It was eclipsed by Ubuntu lately, and self destruct in a limited market place, online sales. Never did hit with Walmart online either.
The obvious market place is installed bases of many older computers in IT departments. Which had unsupported Windows operating system, where Linspire can offer both service and CnR warehouse of applications. Its big money.
Michael Robertson had to seek out computer service organizations to peddle his Linspire to replace Win95/98/ME but also add drams to 512 mb. This is the part that Linspire had to use virtual drams with hdd swap.fs to succeed.
Well. It is not all lost; just use the same service organizations as Dell to sell Linspire along with Dell?
