AMD: GPU Specifications Without NDAs!

This morning at the X Developer Summit in the United Kingdom, Matthew Tippett and John Bridgman of AMD have announced that they will be releasing their ATI GPU specifications without any Non-Disclosure Agreements needed by the developers!

In other words, their GPU specifications will be given to developers in the open. Therefore you shouldn't need to worry about another R200 incident taking place. The 2D specifications will be released very soon and the 3D ones will follow shortly.

X Developer Summit 2007: AMD/ATI and Red Hat’s work at X

This year’s X Developer Summit is taking place and it is yet another event were I would have liked to be. ; (Just to be clear: all I know is taken from other sources!)

Of course the biggest news is that AMD/ATI will be releasing the hardware SPECS without an NDA. It means that everyone will be able to develop drivers or software in general for their hardware without any larger problems (well, given that there are sufficient coding skills of course).

But of course the summit was used to talk about more things.
