Future of Austrumi ? What can it be ?

Austrumi v 1.6.0 will be designed soon. perhaps this December if v1.5.6 stopped at Beryl or compiz?

What can be done is astonishing, if they follow the concept suggested at http://austrumi.mypunbb.com in the suggestion thread of what is needed.

Basically, the installation of xvesa to get boot screen cheat codes and commandline can be advanced to toolbar(install all the linux operating system) and taskbar(to show what has been installed in hardware operating systems and software application operating systems such as text editor, file manager or wine; considered as tools, even browser).

Linux is based on operating system of each hardware group and software group; by writing file systems to make each have automation of installation and execution but independent perhaps even in different directories.

Once the codes are in the drams, you can use commandline or gui to operate the compute anyway you want.

So, to do it on Austrumi(50mb) is easier than most; then you can swap in/out of window manager of application operating systems of different gui languages(tk, gtk+, qt, and eclipse).

Have fun. Join us at the unofficial austrumi website?

Finally, Austrumi v1.6.1 released just before December, 2007 ?

ftp://austrumi.ru.lv/austrumi-1.6.1.iso

From which you can get the download. Now 83 mb of codes with Gnome influenced features(see list of programs in Firefox v2.0.0.9). Using an download accelerator will help to resume, if you lose connection at anytime during download.

This is still pretty much v1.5.0 flavor(at 50mb), but much refined. Still you need to be bilingo to use any of all the languages and Latvian?

Display resolution is really nice. If you have Nvidia, you can have compiz. Other additions need to be explored? Hardinfo tells you how much ram is used.

Older equipment can still use the older versions. Latest v1.5.5_2(Beryl) had different programs at 61mb of codes. Had several windows managers. This is the tradition of Austrumi distro. Many older versions had different programs installed. In latvian menu, find istatiejumi and click on valodas for language selections. Download at:

ftp://austrumi.ru.lv/austrumi-1.5.5_2.iso
ftp://austrumi.ru.lv/austrumi-1.5.4.iso

Have fun with Stardict, which can go from english to latvian and more?

Austrumi may need monitors which has horizontal frequencies of 60 hz.

Austrumi v1.6.2 .iso for ATI video cards ? Only ATI will work ?

Austrumi is a livecd, which switches programs but in different version numbers. So, you use many versions of Austrumi to get the application(embedded) you like?

This release is for ATI 3D video chipsets in many laptops. It is not an attempt to work with other video cards. You will find(no screen found error) causing a kernel panic if using other video cards. It can be downloaded at

ftp://austrumi.ru.lv/austrumi-1.6.2.iso

Austrumi v1.6.6 released ? Download link ? Excellent ?

ftp://linux.edu.lv/pub/Austrumi/austrumi-1.6.6.iso

81.9 mb of iso codes. Use 'al lang_en' cheatcode for English language to launch 2.6.23.11 kernel; explore all its included programs?

This distro has been refining its desktop appearance and functionality. Resolution selection is excellent. Remastering terminal is too big for 1024x768; need to use 1600x1200.

Its time to give this distro its space in Linux desktop preference.

On sourceforge.net, v1.6.5 was released on Dec 23, 2003. 83.9 mb long.

Footnote:
On IBM 8514 monitors, xserver blank out on horizontal frequency. which can be adjusted by Ctl-Alt-'+' by clicking five times to get the taskbar. But you need to adjust resolution to 800x600 to get the full taskbar; otherwise the right hand framebuffers are missing. This illustrates the work around needed to run Austrumi on older monitors. Al noddc does not work because horizontl frequency is set for 34-64 hz only, nothing higher or lower.

The ppconfig with internal wvdial has been broken since the 1.5.0 version. It seems that the telephone dialing part is corrupted, missing some numbers and modem went silent, and gets busy verbose to redial without connection ever. It maybe that in the US, we now need 9 numbers for dialing local next town connections, six numbers are not sufficient anymore? Some work has to be done to fix this bug. Possibly look into GTK+ toolkit compilation for breaking the working software?

Dialup problem traceable to latest kernels ? Puppy finds ?

Austrumi distro by andrej and Agita, did not use dialup modems themselves, so they have not yet discovered that the new kernels they used in their latest Austrumi versions had missing bindings(interrupt). Puppy had found during compilation of dialer and drivers, the missing interrupt file. There maybe other problems. Austrumi has yet to fix their dialer for external modem connection process.

While broadband is king for video transmission. And I personally as a stockholder of ARRS, got them to work on the universal edgeQAM equipment to enable Comcast to build their 160 mbps broadband with 6000 on-demand channels; I still keep using dialup modem. 70% of the internet users are still on dialup modem. Not many converted to broadband because of the slow broadband development(speeds on copper network). After 160 mbps transmission network is installed, I will be changing to triple play also.

Austrumi v1.6.7 released ?

ftp://austrumi.ru.lv/austrumi-1.6.7.iso

82.5 mb. Not reviewed yet.

DistroWatch restored Austrumi upto v1.5.0. Rated 94.
Andrejs and Agita should keep DistroWatch updated ASAP.

Austrumi v1.7.1 released quietly ? FVWM came around again ?

The future of Austrumi is quietly evolving. Version 1.7.0 was expected in July 2008. But, version 1.6.8/9 came; and suddenly v 1.7.1 is available at:

ftp://austrumi.ru.lv/austrumi-1.7.1.iso

FVWM was always very nice and pleasant. Version 1.6.x already had Nvidia and Compiz. All programs included are listed in firefox home page.

Have fun and see how much is still a work in progress?

Footnote:
With firefox launched, memory used was only 20% of 247 mb. 9 mb of 256 mb was used for execution of codes. This means Austrumi was installed and configured with a minimum of codes for kernels and FVWM desktop(20 mb). Firefox used 30 mb of memory. This could be a very efficient architecture. All of Austrumi compressed distro 86.2 mb was deleted leaving the installed codes at 20 mb in dram memory?

Austrumi may fix many Linux process logic ? Boot/xinit/browser ?

We all know windows boot process checks registers of hardware and software, then run window manager, then browser. Browser bugs can be straighten out by rebooting browser, run by registers, and reset all variables. If you shutdown illegally, then scandisk will restore all lost modules and boot with all the registers checked when last run successfully.

Linux open sourced distros never check dependencies when the distro crashes. Never go thru shutdown to kill all processes and restore all variables. So, many complaints of inability to restart x-windows is not fixed by adding shutdown process then boot script to restart x-windows. Alsa mixer never did go thru shutdown to reboot all the functions.

Some one has to make a block diagram to make sure Linux can restart any of the modules for x-windows and browsers?
