Splintered WM made commandline software aOK ?
Linux OS was the rage; with RedHat 7.2 and its commandline applications. There can be only one version of text based commandline software. Text is text?
Now the same text software can be converted with many toolkits for tk, gtk, qt and eclipse. Each toolkit became a project, and can only be used in distro with that particular toolkit.
Ubuntu is thus very limited, if only gnome applications can be supported. And web based desktops such as Google Apps will save Ubuntu from obsoleting itself being single toolkit operating system?
But, it only takes time, for open sourced community to find out; you can strip off one toolkit and filter in with another toolkit, if you use direct toolkit conversion(not source compilation).
The base of any software is still ascii codes and English language. Graphical user interface is added on the text base language. So conversion will make gnome; KDE or even eclipse GUI?
