Browser Wars, chicken or egg philosophy rules ?
The age old chicken or egg which comes first question is more applicable in Linux community than ever? It is this misunderstanding, who cares, that made Linux unpopular. Many Linux applications are self destructive in bugs galore; and we invented attitude that made who care prevalent.
We do care when Gecko engines are not usable on many web pages to be downloaded. The big change today is first downloading a list of framebuffers with links and date coded. Then search your swap file for any cached. Then download the rest of the links for current data. Finally, rendering into one cohesive webpage. FireFox 3.0 can not do that, because Gecko layout is not the same as IE6.0/7.0(web page has to change for IE7.0 too is the reason that IE6.0 is a standard layout for web pages) layout for framebuffers. Mozilla can not fix it unless Gecko can do other layouts by a filter.
To force all the web pages to conform to Gecko engines is plainly too much work and may never be done, resulting in rejecting FireFox 3.0 after installing and thru trial and tribulations. If Gecko were first, then all other layouts have to be change to Gecko layout?
