One-Click Linux Software Installation Available for Freespire, Linspire, and Ubuntu

After months of hard work, Linspire is proud to announce the beta release of CNR.com. On the 23rd of January, 2007, Linspire announced for the first time that they are working to extend their CNR (Click 'N Run) website for other popular Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu, Fedora, openSUSE and Debian. The CNR service has already been available for all Linspire and Freespire users. Kevin Carmony, the President and CEO of Linspire Inc., stated that he had enough with complaints from MS Windows and Mac users about Linux, and that there are too many distributions and each one has a different way of installing software: "When we started Linspire, we knew that we'd need to overcome this complexity. This led to Linspire's CNR ("Click 'N Run") technology."

CNR is a FREE and easy way to access over 37,264 desktop Linux products, packages and libraries, all with a single mouse click.

CnR at $49.95 is here to stay ? Quick way update your Debian ?

Cnr warehouse had been around for sometime for Linows, Linspire then Freespire, now Ubuntu. Maybe even Mepis? Knoppix? Damn small Linux, Xandros and others? May even be merchandized for ASUS Eee PC club?

The concept is simple, install the programs without compiling from english source codes with many dependency library tools(languages, scripts and utilities). It requires you to have installed a CnR clint software, before you can install the selection of software in the warehouse, 37,000 strong including other wine filtered third party software or ndiswrappered drivers(?).

And you can have updates notification. Next thing you know, will be virtual administrator service to keep your computer in good health. Auto-update of shadowed bios, adjusting speed steps, wait state and cpu cool and error code reporting to CnR warehouse?

The approach is long in coming for Linux distros. The price point may be limiting the popularity of CnR warehouse, but ASUS and Everex may be interested for their customers to join at a discount.
