This time there is no how-to, hopefully the new drivers will be provided via 1-click soon. Here is a quick look at the state of the matter.

What’s good:

* Xgl works once again, it is as simple as running gnome-xgl-switch -e
* AIGLX is comparable as the last release, no visible difference, LD_LIBRARY_PATH line is no longer required in compiz-manager(just that one)

What sucks:

* I can’t get 1440×900 resolution for my Viewsonic VA1912w LCD, it worked on 8.43 Sad
* Video playback is still flickery, and sometimes also crashes X

VMware Draws on Open Source to Manage Cloud Micro Services

VMware last week released details about two new open source projects that aim to bridge the divide between the company's virtualization software and other vendors' containers. Both projects integrate into VMware's unified platform for the hybrid cloud, allowing the company to create a consistent environment for cloud-native and traditional applications. Project Lightwave and Project Photon could tip sides in the ongoing debate within cloud computing and virtualization markets over running containers on standalone hardware or in virtual machines with virtualization software.
