Been Sick as a dog
I apologize to the folks that come to tuxmachines looking for the latest in linux and open source news and reviews for not updating the site the passed coupla days. I've been sicker than I've ever been in my life.
No need for the gory details and grossing everybody out, but let's just say the bugs and viruses going around are getting more and more virulent. I'm just waiting for the bug to come along that's gonna wipe us all out.
I had a cold or the flu in November that lasted 3 weeks and it was the worst cold (or flu) I'd ever had.
So, with all the threats hanging over humans' heads: climate change, pole shift, nuclear/terrorist threats, etc; I bet it'll be a mircoscopic entity that does us in.

re: Sick
Need a Tissue?
Just kidding - the best way to get better is to really (not sorta) take a few days off.
Put a "Happy Holiday - Best Wishes for the New Year" Sticky on the front page and take the rest of the year off. Stay in bed, drink lots of fluid, catch up on your Book or DVD (or both) list.
The best way to prolong any type of illness is to attempt to work thru it.
Or do what "The Daily WTF" site did and post just a couple of "golden oldies" on their site from xmas eve to new years.
Or just run a few polls (like how many bottles of NightQuill will you use until you're better).
Being a one woman shop, you can't be everywhere at all times. So don't feel like you'll lose your audience (or SEO) by taking a few days off (especially over the holidays).
Sorry to hear it!
Thanks for doing all you do to make this an interesting web site. What a lousy time of year to get sick, during the holidays. Hope you feel better soon.
(I've had the flu that bad twice now in my lifetime, usually along with a sinus infection. You know you're sick when you have to quit smoking, simply because smoking makes you vomit! Oh yeah, no gory details.)
Happy holidays,
Andrew
re: sick
Thanks all. I think I'm starting to feel better finally. I should have taken VonSkippy's advice tho cuz I thought I was better before and relapsed.
My TV just died too.
But my daughter just had her first baby yesterday, so the season wasn't all bad.
Hope yaw had a happy holiday season.
smoking
The irony in that statement made me laugh out loud.
//always amazed what you nicotine freaks will go thru
//but not a anti-smoking nazi - after all, they're your (black) lungs
