24 Hours with Hardy

By which I mean my first 24 hours or so of screen time. I have to say I’m very impressed. Every edition of Ubuntu I’ve used (started with Breezy) has been excellent but often seemed a bit immature - which is not a criticism and is to be expected from a new product. It’s still in development so I expect the remaining bugs, of which there are few, to be worked out before release. Here are a few of my decidedly amateur observations.

* First thing you will notice is the new artwork. This is the first release that I’m aware of that has incorporated the name into the theme. The wallpaper is very attractive and unique and has moved away from the “brown swirls” of previous releases. I hope to see this continue in future releases. I was a bit disappointed to see the gtk colors were not the black and orange that was suggested early on. It’s more a salmon color that I personally don’t care for. I think a darker orange would have been nice.

* There is a nice but subtle graphic feedback when launching a program for the panel which is kind of cool and adds to the more modern feeling.

24 Hours with Hardy?

With a headline like this it probably belong under the previous post ("coupla teehees").
