Linux firm Trolltech readies board for IPO
Trolltech, the world's biggest producer of Linux software for mobile devices, has appointed two ex-Microsoft executives as it gears up for a possible initial public offering, sources close to the company said on Tuesday.
Trolltech delivers Linux systems for cell phones, set top boxes and other platforms to customers.
Linux is open and freely available software. Commercial companies such as Red Hat and Trolltech take the freely available software and tailor it for customers at a fee.
