Distro Appologists

Such a disturbing trend.

No matter what Distro, there seems to be more and more people willing to put up with crap. Not only put up with, but apologize for and make excuses why it's "not really a bad thing" (seems like reliving the Microsoft - "it's not a bug it's a feature" days).

Why? If it sucks, say so. Without real world feedback (and not the fawning fanboy crap) - Distro's will never improve.

That said, Dear PCLinuxOS, please respin your distro. Yes I know there's a project or a committee or a group or a community project or a discussion or a plan or something - just let me know when I can actually download a new ISO that doesn't require 9 bazillion megs worth of updates and patches after a fresh install (with all the post-install patches/updates, Gentoo is a quicker install).

I applaud your release cycle strategy (it's will be done when it's done - not some stupid arbitrary 6 month rush to market scam), but it's ridiculous not to respin your current ISO in the mean time, and it's been discussed/planned/explained/apologized to death - just do it all ready.

re: Distro Appologists

augh, I don't believe I've run anything that didn't have something that needed a workaround of some nature or another.

re; re: Distro Apologists

True, and I wasn't singling out PCLinuxOS to pick on (it's just über-annoying to have a rolling release distro require so many patches out of the gate) - my point was (regardless of the Distro) is why do we all put up with such shoddy work? And not just put up with it, but appoligize and make excuses for it?

If I buy a refrigerator, I pretty much expect ALL of it's features to just work. I don't want a ice maker patch and a veggie draw workaround.

I think that goes for pretty much everything most people use in daily life - it should (and in most cases does) just work.

So why do Linux Distros (and Applications) get a free pass in the QA department?

lolololol

Yeah, if that radiation patch for my microwave don't hurry up, I'm gonna spout another arm.

...hey, that'd be handy. Laughing out loud
