Q&A: Before she retires from the helm of IBM's Software Group, Janet Perna shares a few words on her legacy of 31 years at the helm of IBM's Software Group. First, if it knows what's good for it, Oracle will keep supporting IBM customers. Second, don't expect her to pop up at Oracle or Sun, but keep your eye on New Orleans.
Before she goes, Perna recently took time to speak with Ziff Davis Internet News Editor Lisa Vaas to look over her legacy and to say goodbye-and thank you-to the database world she helped to create.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |
