Bernard Out As Novell Global Channel Chief
Novell's channel management is undergoing another change, less than a year after the software vendor extensively overhauled its channel program.
Tim Wolfe, president and general manager of Novell Americas, will serve as acting vice president of global channel sales effective immediately, replacing Pat Bernard who was just named to the position last November, the company said early Tuesday.
A company spokeswoman said Bernard left the company "to pursue other interests" but did not have additional information about the circumstances surrounding her departure. The spokeswoman said the company is seeking a replacement for Bernard but did not have information about how quickly that would occur.
Last November Novell's channel executive ranks underwent major changes that included the departures of Steve Erdman, vice president and general manager of channels and alliances, and James Simzer, director of North America partner sales.
Bernard, a former Hyperion Solutions executive, was hired at the time for the new post of vice president of global channel sales.

Cloud computing, netbooks explosion caught Novell asleep ?
Novell depends on Vars or channel sales. Novell sjhould have Ron call on Bestbuy, and other large electronic stores(revolving $5,000 per chain store per product) and distributors($10 million yearly each, inventory per product) around the world. Anyone with less stature will not impress the store buyers(purchasing agents).
Cloud computing and netbook form factor explosion in the market place caught Novell unawares.
Next trend is smartphones replacing more cloud computing devices. While China is pushing Hisense chipset; the trend will be edgeQam with gsm/Wcdma(cheaper solution) backedup by mainframe computer design to handle the many periperals of camera, GPS, Polaroid instant picture printing over LCD, USB nand flash cards replacing DVD blueray, etc.
We are stockholders of Novl. Opinions here maybe biased.
