New gOS Linux OS Surrounded by Netbooks

gOS, the Linux OS which has powered the $199 Wal-Mart PC and assorted netbooks, announced its latest version, which the company calls gOS3 Gadgets.

In this context, the gOS name seems a bit misleading, as the new OS launches Google Gadgets for Linux immediately upon startup. Users are given access to about 100,000 Google Gadgets -- but the widgets, small helper applications that can perform a number of small tasks, are from Google, and not gOS.

The gOS 3 Gadgets release will also preload WINE, LXDE, and other Google software for Linux. gOS 3 Gadgets includes LXDE (Lightweight X Desktop Environment) applications in the renewed effort to develop a more lightweight desktop, the company said.

gOS forgot netbooks should boot into internet ? Why not ?

Not using FVWM with its own anybars(toolbars and taskbars in their own framebuffers) made of foobar, had to go thru window manager.

Using splash screen of FVWM is much easier?

Common problems of Linux developers aer their understanding of Linux open sourced codes. Very few developers dissect the codes and substitute with other codes from other window managers. LXDE can be use anywhere within a frame, so does foobar.

Today, many operating system manuals or help desks are using Firefox instead of Dillo. Nobody uses window manager and manual or help desk files anymore. The concept is framebuffer files to be installed in a layout engine. Window manager defines layout engine which is in any browser also.

We hope it won't take years to boot into Firefox and its layout engine. Eventually video codes(Mpeg4 and prml table of fonts, zoomed to size) will take over text rendering engines(no more anti-aliasing problems ever).
