Reiser's children file wrongful death suit against father
The two children of computer programmer Hans Reiser have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against their father in connection with the murder of their mother, Nina Reiser.
The lawsuit claims Rory and Niorline Reiser — who currently live in Russia with their maternal grandmother Irina Sharanova — "have suffered a tremendous loss, including the loss of love, support, companionship, comfort, affection and society of Nina," due to their father's murder of Nina.
The lawsuit was filed last Thursday, just a day before Reiser accepted a deal with the prosecution and the court and was sentenced on second-degree murder charges. Also that day, new details emerged on how Reiser killed his estranged wife, from a 30-page statement filed with the court. In that statement, Reiser admitted he killed Nina after an argument, using what the he called a Judo technique, and that he kept her corpse in his car for two nights while he dug a crude, makeshift grave in the Oakland hills.
