You're not trapped!
I am a part of several listservs for attorneys. Everyday, some attorney, somewhere is having an issue with Windows. This is not simply due to Window's market share. It is due to Window's susceptibility to malware, spyware and classic Windows flaws which create issues like the classic Blue Screen of Death.
Usually, when I suggest they switch to Linux, I get resistance. This is due largely to their fear of change. My message to them is simply that they are not trapped by Windows.
The beauty of Linux is that it can be deployed on their existing hardware, which is not the case, if they want to switch to a Mac. When deployed on their existing hardware, Linux usually runs more efficiently than Windows. Once deployed, it will be much more secure than a Windows or even a Mac machine.
