commandline interface here to stay!

I do my best to contain my emotions when I run across something on the forums that irritates me. What has gotten my goat lately (aside from the random nitpicking over default themes), is the constant attempts to earmark command line use as some sort of detriment to Linux altogether.
The command line is not blocking the progress of Linux on the desktop. Not in the least. What does block the progress of Linux on the desktop is the fact that I can, if I want, use the command line.
Yes, as I have mentioned before, the real impediment to Linux is simply the fact that I can do whatever I want with it. So get past it. Stop pretending the command line has the least bit of influence on Linux’s popularity.

GUI is limited command line input eyecandy ? Macros anyone ?
Linux use GUI because we can limit accidental use of bugs? GUI gives you limited choices, so that you can void mistakes.
Commandline inputs can allow you to use macros(hypervisor or virtualization inputs), instructions that can be very powerful, especially in Gnome. In Gnome you might accidentally hit a macro and changed everything from display to program functions. Not knowing all the working macros may cause you days of frustrations. Or in PHP, where some combination of codes in text may bring out a smiley face of some sort. In PHP, use 'space' in text to defeat wrongful smiley face introduction.
If you are a power user, you need the corresponding command lists for that version of app that you are currently using. Some macros still works, others may have been left out, on the latest apps or GCC version.
