Mozilla: We're Not Using Firefox to Track You

Mozilla on Monday denied that it wants to use its Firefox browser to track your online activities.

"Firefox and Mozilla will remain intensely focused on privacy, protection of personal data and user control over that data," Mozilla Foundation chairwoman Mitchell Baker wrote in a Monday blog post.

Baker's entry was in response to user comments on a September 17 blog entry she wrote about usage data. In that post, Baker said that "if everything that is known about the basic usage of the Internet is closed and proprietary then the Internet as an open platform will suffer."

That prompted some readers to express concern that Mozilla would be retaining information on their Web surfing activities.
