Open source growth dims LAMP stack to symbolic status

It may be time to turn out the lights on the LAMP stack.
Four years ago, LAMP (Linux OS, Apache Web server, MySQL database and Perl, Python and PHP languages) was the open stack of choice, especially for Web servers.
In the early part of the decade, when MySQL started promoting LAMP to boost its own visibility as the M in the stack, the acronym grew in popularity.
Today, however, LAMP is like an illuminated sign with only the "A" still visible. While the existence of an all-open source application stack remains helpful, there are so many choices beyond the original group that the LAMP acronym has fallen into disuse, analysts say. Even Linux is not sacrosanct, with companies occasionally substituting Windows in an otherwise all-open source stack; the Apache Web server is the only LAMP component whose position remains undisputed, observers say.
"It's never been a specific acronym," said Mark Driver, at research vice president at Stamford, Conn.-based Gartner Inc..
"LAMP always represented the idea of an open stack. It shouldn't be taken too literally."

Skype figured it out first, telephony on voip of emails back and forth.
Netbooks will do soon. That, each one of us is just an email client website app away from a website that cost nothing to build. No costly domain name or free subdomain limited by bandwidth. Just an email address that has automatic response to an email inquiry? Then each subsequent email inquiry gets auto reply too.
This, of course requires telephony edgeQam channel data transmission.
Lamps is too cumbersome to learn? Ajax DOM takes business experience to write?
Webpage content is tied to the new trend of office software of formed letters to make webpages. You can buy webpages of a store front? A friendship pack of form letters? A blog creator? A forum for technology? A whole lot of fun to publish information?
Will cloud computing become email servers/cients? sooner than later?

Vacation reply gets #105 from MySql and autofills a reply email format then sends back to the website users.
This process repeats itself for different webpages; if you have virtualization software to manage(delete junk mail) to read Yahoo incoming email and send reply using stored MySql webpages, on the fly using a large cache.
This kind of app program, only need to be able to receive Yahoo email in a cache memory, read the header of email by the sender email address and subject of webpage#, to send back a reply. So, it is easier to use cobol or c compiler, instead of python or other Linux reusable files.
One day after, Yahoo chief Jerry Yang resigns ? Yang future ?
One day after we mentioned Yahoo vacation email, Yang resigns as CEO. The job brought Yang to the blunt of criticism, when Microsoft offer was handled without much exploration of technology and direction change for future expansion. Microsoft had expanded into cloud computing with 5 data centers and offered a merger.
Yang was a student programmer, used BSD to code the Yahoo website when he cofounded Yahoo and received venture capital. Had no previous executive experience. Needed engineering to setup server farm. Then needed experienced executive to run advertizing revenue as income.
Yesterday, Yang resigned and in his memo, mentioned that he will only bleed Yahoo purple(royally).
The significance is that email is the instrument of SAP. And Yahoo vacation email response is the engine of website for individuals. Yahoo email missed the technology and remained at vacation response.
The future of all data centers will be email oriented; and Yang must recode Yahoo with middleware such as SAP type of virtualization software(dynamic object model as in ajax). Many advertizing revenue will need new technology via email transactions. Yahoo programmers still need the Yang secret BSD codes to work the flow charts.
Good Luck Jerry, reinvent Yahoo is a job that being CEO will not have enough of a focus?
