Is Microsoft Planning Its First-Ever Layoffs?

With the economy in the tank and other major firms planning massive cutbacks, rumors have been swirling for several weeks that Microsoft plans big layoffs of its own to be announced on or about Jan. 15.
How big? As much as 10 to 17 percent of the company's employees, if you believe the buzz.
If true, the cuts would be the first "official" layoffs in Microsoft's history -- blunting a point that the company has always pointed to as a matter of pride.
Despite one Web site's claims that the layoffs are now "fact," however, no one seems to be able to substantiate the rumors. That may make for a lot of Microsoft employees lying awake at night after tonight's champagne wears off.
Its in-house technology problem ? parallel proc time division ?
What Microsoft was caught, is the old vs. the new technology.

Older frameworks of F# has to be modernized by edgeQam channels availability determination(deterministic realtime used by Vista). DMA is the king in cell cpus.
So, some older technologists will be let go. So, that new technologists will be hired to turn the company around technology wise?

But the shake up will be in their data centers. where juniper connects to every server and has to be run in layers? They have to change to Mitel PBX to connect 50,000 servers to one PBX. then use edgeQam transceivers to send data out in multichannels at the same time.
Its still small expense to get it done right. Comcast is already doing edgeQam to the house for 6000 channel one broadcast on demand.
Microsoft dotnet strategy can use cableTv edgeQam channel servers easily.
