Jaunty Jackalope... the Easter bunny just grew antlers
As I write this, there are just 10 days until the next release of Ubuntu Linux (due 23rd April). Named "Jaunty Jackalope", it will be the credit crunch busting software solution you've all been desperate for. So what's new, or rather, why should you care? Perhaps you were looking to buy a new PC/laptop but the recession prohibits lavish spending, or maybe you've just purchased one and haven't yet found a nearby skip to dump the old box in!
Let me tell you, my newest computer is 5 years old and Ubuntu runs superbly, giving me sharper looks and animations, sexier than a Mac fanboi's wet dream. Ubuntu's appeal is that it breathes new life into your old hardware, with my aging tower well hidden you could fooled into thinking I'd splashed out on something expensive. It doesn't have to be a replacement for Windows or Mac OSX, there are plenty of ways to run the Ubuntu operating system alongside your current configuration.
Fancy treating yourself to a belated non-fattening Easter present?

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources.
