How's New Theme?

meh

What does "meh" mean?

re: meh

Usually it means like: "I don't know" or "I don't care" or "whatever" or "<shrugs>" ...something like that. In this case it probably means: I'm not impressed or it don't matter or it's okay.

re: Theme

I like it. Maybe a tad to simplistic/clean - but it loads fast. On a slightly different topic - who's Jose Rangel and why does he get the footer on every page?

re: jose

Cuz he made the penguin logo and header background for me that I've been using for ..how many years? He was a great graphic artist, made lots of wallpapers and stuff and posted them on kde-look.org, but then he just disappeared one day. poof...

you're always logged in, you could try one of the other themes listed on your account settings page if this one is too simplistic for your tastes. The one I had up this morning was kinda okay too, but I really like the clean look of this one for default I think.

re: new theme

The new theme should be called "whitefungus" since it seems to grow on ya.

Only "thing" that really bugs me is the difference between a "new link" and a "visited link".

For me (and my middle aged eyes) the difference between dark blue and black is very hard to tell apart.

re: visited links

Is that any better for ya Skip?

re: links

Yes - thanks for the quick theme mod work.

//unless you're just yanking my chain and didn't make any changes - but want me to THINK you made changes - so now I'm confused am I really seeing a change or should I just think I'm seeing a change. - it's budget prep month here so my minds firmly mired in bean counting muck.

re: links

lolol naw, I lightened the links and darkened the visited so they'd contrast against each other little more.

re: visited

Can you tell the difference now? Big Grin

I couldn't wait for you to come back to see it. Tongue

But I'll fudge around with em see if I can come up with something.

Your theme?

If anyone is missing a theme they used to use now, please let me know and I'll try to get it reinstalled. Thanks.

  • The Pop GTK Theme Brings Ubuntu with GNOME to Life
If you’re looking to give your newly minted GNOME desktop a bit of a makeover look no further than the Pop GTK theme. Created by the popular Ubuntu computer seller System76, the Pop GTK theme puts a modern spin on the Ubuntu brown and orange colour scheme (which also happen to be the colours used in the System76 logo).
  • 2017 will be the year of the Linux desktop... for GNOME on Ubuntu
A few weeks ago, Mark Shuttleworth, now CEO of Canonical, announced that the Unity desktop shell would be abandoned in favour of GNOME. While we were told that GNOME would be used by Ubuntu 18.04, we weren't sure whether it'd be included in Ubuntu 17.10, the next release. Following a meeting on IRC, we now know that GNOME will ship by default in the next release.
  • Ubuntu GNOME merged into mainline Ubuntu
Ubuntu has been using the Unity environment developed by Caonical Ltd. since the netbook edition of Ubuntu 10.10, initially released on June 9, 2010. However, it has been decided that the Unity environment would no longer be the standard environment used for the popular GNU/Linux distro. In a blog post by Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu and Canonical, he says, "We are wrapping up an excellent quarter and an excellent year for the company, with performance in many teams and products that we can be proud of. As we head into the new fiscal year, it’s appropriate to reassess each of our initiatives. I’m writing to let you know that we will end our investment in Unity8, the phone and convergence shell. We will shift our default Ubuntu desktop back to GNOME for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS."
