RUMOR: Google's Chrome OS arriving next week
It seems a little birdy told TechCrunch that Google's Chrome OS has an early version launching next week. Here at Download Squad, we've been searching for clues about what this new browser-centered OS might look like. Early screenshots proved to be fake, and later ones seemingly depicted the browser component of the OS. Sources inside Google have said there's more to Chrome OS than that.
One thing we DO know is that the browser in Chrome OS will be able to mount drives and function as a system navigation tool. How will hardware support be in these early builds, though?

Buzz
Lots of buzz about Chrome OS. I hope it is really really good.
This could potentially replace...
my Linux installation in the future. I have a feeling it's based on Debian or Ubuntu though
re: potential
I hate anything with Big Brother tendencies. Back what Google was just the best search engine in the world, I was a fan. It was my number one support reply - go google for it and the first thing I reached for. Adding ads was no big deal.
But as soon as they started databasing our searches, then providing email to monitor and store, then office suite to monitor and store, then a browser for observing web travel and now an OS to watch everything else - my Big brother radar went off.
Do no evil? HA!
