Parting with my partitions part one

In an earlier article called "Playing with partitions" I talked about changing the ratio of cylinders, heads and sectors to increase the apparent size of a flash ram for my camera. I was just a bit rude then when I said that if you didn't know what cylinders, heads and sectors were to look them up in google and then get back to me.

I now feel that I have been lacking in my literary skillz and I should make up for it with a little bit more info on exactly what partitions are. Knowing how to partition your disks is very important to our line of work. To further explain what I missed out on regarding the cylinders, head and sectors I am going to use an analogy.

The best analogy to describe how hard disks work (and one of my favourite foods) is to use pizza's.
