The five inaccurate reasons Linux beats Windows for servers
I am always interested in a good debate of Linux vs Windows. That said, I read an article this morning talking about the five reasons that Linux beat Windows for servers. By the time I finished reading the article though I had a list of many reasons why the article was actually wrong.
Now a point by point analysis and rebuttal.
1. Stability
The author of the article asserts that Linux systems are well known for their ability to run for years without failure, handle more processing capacity than Windows, not need to be rebooted, and somehow never fragment.
Linux systems are well known for their ability to run for years without failure, however unless you are using ksplice to update your kernel you still need to reboot when a kernel patch is released.
Windows and Linux are equal at handling large numbers of processes, as long as the processes are well written.
