What's up, Man-driva?
I think this will be an interesting post, mainly because this is a huge competitor to the awesomeness of Ubuntu. And I had never really heard of Mandriva before. But wow, I was impressed as it was just booting up.
Mandriva is a Debian Linux system that runs on GNOME. It looks really nice too. It definitely has its own look apart from other Linux systems I've seen, and it puts its own customizations to the Linux system at the front of the operating system. Let's get to the breakdown of how my trial went.
Pros
* Upon first boot up, Mandriva asks you about particular settings, such as language settings, keyboard settings, time settings, and makes you agree to the user agreement before testing out the system. And I really liked this. It was nice to see the operating system taking user agreement and privacy seriously, as I feel like other Linux systems don't make a point to show this. However, I think it's a step in the right direction, and it also provides a better experience for the user.
* Also, miraculously, my wireless card worked without any tweaking on this system! It was fantastic.
