Debian vs Ubuntu — My Personal Opinion and Experience With Both
I am not a very experienced linux user by any means. Over the last year I have tried a slew of different Linux distributions. My two favorites are Ubuntu and Debian.
Ubuntu, I consider being a “training wheels” distribution of Linux. It’s a super awesome operating system. And one that allows people to really make the transition from the Microsoft world to the Linux world virtually seamless. But, quickly I started to see some subtle differences between the two. Ubuntu is very popular. And after being exposed to the whole Microsoft brainwashing all my life, Microsoft has left a very nasty taste in my mouth. And while, Ubuntu and the community support are amazing, it’s starting to feel very corporate and commercialized.
Debian on the other hand is one of the pioneers on Linux, and from what I hear, one of the original distros made available.
