Two days ago, the Central State Office for e-Croatia (http://www.e-hrvatska.hr/), governmental office that works on computerization of state administration, organized the first meeting of the Working Group for Preparation of Policy documents related to use of open source software.
The aim of this document, according to the Office, is to create the proncipal directions related to use and expansion of use of open source software in state administration and development of quality solutions based on three principles: interoperability, flexibility and safety. Furthermore, the Office mentions that the EU already adopted reccommendations on direction that members states need to follow in the development of such solutions, and this document should serve as foundation for stronger development of open source solutions in state administration.
The working group is made of experts from the Government and the state administration, which are charged with the task to present a complete document to the public by beginning of May 2006. After that, we could expect the creation of action plan to operationalize the implementation of concrete tasks.
