Shares of enterprise software maker Red Hat (RHT) dipped 3.3% in midday trading on Tuesday, after the company late Monday reported a mixed bag of financial results.

The company's earnings per share minus items missed by a penny, as we reported.

Cowen & Co. analyst Gregg Moskowitz, in a research note Tuesday, called Red Hat's results for its fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 31 "decent but not quite enough ... we were expecting some upside."
