GIMP User Manual 0.10 Released

After more than six months of work, we're proud to announce a new
release of the user manual for GIMP 2.2. This release features a lot of improvements, in particular:

  • Spelling and grammar fixes for Czech, German, Dutch, Italian,
    English, Chinese and French
  • Restructuring of the manual into three parts: Introduction,
    Concepts and Tutorials, Reference
  • New language: Croatian
  • Technical fixes: Makefile updates, better images for the PDF version,
    CSS updates, new scripts for editing and validating the XML files
  • New GIMP Keys reference
  • New content in:

    • Filters, Menus for German
    • Tools, Dialogs for Italian
    • Filters for French, English
    • Concepts for Dutch
  • A lot of Bugfixes

GIMP 2.3.8 Development Release

GIMP 2.3.8 is the latest development snapshot on the road to version 2.4 of the GNU Image Manipulation Program. The source code can be downloaded from A detailed list of changes is available at

GIMP 2.2.11 Released

Version 2.2.11 of the GNU Image Manipulation Program is now available. This is a bug-fix release in the stable 2.2 series. Please see the NEWS file for a detailed list of changes. The source code can be retrieved from and its mirrors. Binary packages for the various supported platforms will become available soon.

An Interview With Zlatan Todoric, Open-Source Developer & Former Purism CTO

With the early Librem 5 smartphones now shipping from their "Aspen" batch and recent Reddit discussions about the Librem 5 roping him in, former Purism CTO Zlatan Todoric has agreed to a brief interview on Phoronix. Zlatan Todoric is no longer employed by Purism but was one of the original staff members going back to 2015 when they were primarily focused on shipping Linux laptops and then developed their privacy-minded smartphone ambitions. He's been out since September 2018 but that also means his NDA has expired. Through this he's also a Debian developer and contributor to other free software projects. So let's welcome Zlatan and the opportunity to learn more about some of the history of Purism's Linux hardware efforts. Read more


GNOME 3.35.1 is now available. This is the first unstable release leading to 3.36 stable series. If you want to compile GNOME 3.35.1, you can use the official BuildStream project snapshot. Thanks to BuildStream's build sandbox, it should build reliably for you regardless of the dependencies on your host system... 4MLinux 30.1 released.

This is a minor (point) release in the 4MLinux STABLE channel, which comes with the Linux kernel 4.19.69. The 4MLinux Server now includes Apache 2.4.41, MariaDB 10.4.7, and PHP 7.3.9 (see this post for more details). You can update your 4MLinux by executing the "zk update" command in your terminal (fully automatic process). Read more
