X-Files Star to Make a Come Back

Movies

He may forever be Mulder from "The X-Files" for some, but David Duchovny has moved on. After starring in such movies as "Connie and Carla" and "Full Frontal," the 45-year-old Duchovny took some time to write a screenplay and direct -- as well as taking a small but pivotal role in "House of D," his feature directorial debut.

Though not strictly autobiographical, "House of D" is set in Duchovny's hometown, New York City, and touches upon elements of his youth. The film also stars Robin Williams, Duchovny's wife, Tea Leoni, and Erykah Badu and is, in the words of co-star Williams, an "urban fairy tale." Duchovny visited Seattle last month to talk about the film, which opens locally tomorrow, and his potential new career path.

In addition, David Duchovny has been cast as the male lead in The Secret, which is based on the Japanese movie Himitsu.

The Hollywood Reporter says French film star Vincent Perez will direct with Luc Besson and Virginie Silla producing.

Duchovny will join Lili Taylor (who plays his wife) and Olivia J. Thirlby who has been cast the couples' daughter.

Himitsu was based on a novel by Japanese author Keigo Higashino and follows a man whose life changes after the bus carrying his wife and daughter goes over a cliff. His wife dies but his daughter survives only to be possessed by the dead wife.

Filming will take place in Montreal.

Create modular server-side Java apps direct from mvn modules with diet4j instead of an app server

In the latest release, the diet4j module framework for Java has learned to run modular Java apps using the Apache jsvc daemon (best known from running Tomcat on many Linux distros). If org.example.mydaemon is your top Maven project, all you do is specify it as the root module for your jsvc invocation, and diet4j figures out the dependencies when jsvc starts. An example systemd.service file is available.
