New Patches Posted For Addressing Year 2038 Problem In Linux File-Systems
Some patches from 2014 have been revived in hopes of addressing the Year 2038 problem for Linux file-systems.
For those out of the loop, the Year 2038 problem is the issue of the Unix time format no longer being able to fit in a signed 32-bit integer after 19 January 2038. It Looks Like Nouveau Will Not Have Any Exciting Changes For Linux 4.5
With the Linux 4.2 kernel there was no feature update for Nouveau and it's looking like it might be that way too for Linux 4.5.
I've already been writing about some of the changes for Linux 4.5 but you may have noticed that Nouveau hadn't been mentioned... Well, that's because there doesn't even seem to be a 4.5/-next branch for this new kernel cycle where its merge window will open next week.

Intel has committed all of the PCI IDs to Mesa and libdrm for the graphics processors of their next-generation Kabylake hardware.
Intel Open-Source Technology Center developers have been working on Kabylake support in the open for the past few months now. This successor to Skylake is due out later this year and on the kernel-side there's a lot of Kabylake stuff for Linux 4.5.
