Boycotts Begin
I wondered how long before talk of boycotting Novell/openSUSE began. My first inkling came from trying to decide how to handle my routine coverage of openSUSE developmental releases, then this comment appeared here on Tuxmachines. Now openaddict.com has published a call to boycott Novell/SUSE.
They state:
If you are using Suse, please remove it and use a Free version of Linux like Debian or Slackware. I'm calling for a boycott of all software, services and products Novell. Don't purchase, license or download any Novell Linux or software products as long as Novell is in violation of the GPL.
R.I.P. Suse
In their article titled Now, more than ever, we need the Free Software Foundation
I'm sure this is only the beginning.

How To Boycott Novell?
Novell gave signs of its evilness a long time ago. When I protested for their own changes to GNOME (the famous new menu and the app browser), nobody believed me. It's only now that the obvious has to be accepted: Novell wants to do everything its own way, no matter what.
Now, how to boycott Novell?
Case 1: You are using SuSE since ages. Oh, this must be hurting you a lot. Maybe you were also shocked when SuSE focused on GNOME instead of KDE (fortunately for you, KDE was not abandoned).
You might consider Mandriva 2007.
Case 2: You are a recent SuSE aficionado. It's a hard job to make you hate your new love. You might feel you need to stick with Novell for a while, to see what's going to happen. In the meantime, read the suggestions for Case 1.
Case 3: You are not a SuSE user!
