Ubuntu Vista
My father heard about Vista coming on the news. Since he was interested in getting it, he asked me to obtain it and install it on his computer and he would give some cash in return. I told him I was going to do that, but instead I burned an Ubuntu CD and installed it.
Well, it's been a few days since that and now he says Bill Gates is better than Steve Jobs and brags about how OS X on my iMac is obsolete compared to Vista on his PC.

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources. The company also announced it was partnering with Red Hat to ensure these technologies have Linux compatibility. |

Some people are so gullible
If you don't get the hint after seeing an Ubuntu bootsplash, what would it take?
Re: Some people are so gullible
...I wouldn't say "some", I would say "most".
As for "what would it take"?
Well, unless Bill Gates walks up to the father and says: "This isn't Windows Vista", then the dad wouldn't know.
Sometimes that may not be enough...In addition, maybe large 200ft neon sign could help with clarifying the message.
When I showed my father a Linux distro, I didn't lie to him about it. I said "This is Linux" and demo'ed PCLinuxOS and DreamLinux. He was blown away...We are at the stage of minimising the use of Windows as much as possible.
4 out of 5 of my boxes are now Linux. (The last is only for testing and compatibility reasons...Even then, its Win2k).
Personally, I don't think we should lie about Linux and open-source. Because its about honesty itself...Why do you think being open gains trust?
No one likes being lied to. Not even when you think its good for them. Be upfront and open, and win by letting the software do the talking.
