Shuttleworth Foundation left in the dark by LPI
One-sided decision making and a lack of communication from the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) contributed to the breakdown in the relationship between the organisations, says Shuttleworth Foundation programme manager Jason Hudson.
The comments follow Tectonic's article last week in which the Meraka Centre said they expected to become the South African LPI affiliate after the foundation removed itself from the role.
Hudson said that "in March 2006, the LPI one-sidedly and without prior notice raised their paper based exam prices from $20 to a global standard price of $150 per exam paper with immediate effect. This firstly impacted on exam events we had already arranged and had been paid for and secondly contradicted our agreement with the LPI that would allow us to offer affordable Linux certification to South African Linux professionals."
