Today, we're looking at three drives, plus we're comparing them with the Western Digital Caviar RAID Edition drive we reviewed several months ago. This allows us to see if there's any real performance difference between the old and new.
All of these drives have a few things in common: They're second-generation SATA drives that spin at 7,200RPM and support the 3-gigabit-per-second SATA standard. The Samsung and Hitachi drives both support native command queuing (NCQ).
