Well, I guess we'll go with this debian install. I still haven't worked out all the kinks yet cuz my gran'babies came over today and I didn't get a chance to work on things. I took the opportunity to upgrade drupal as you may have noticed too, and it was a much easier upgrade this time. No manual database fiddlin' required. Although we did lose some of our nice features.
There doesn't seem to be an "excerpt" module for 5.1 for one thing. That's a big ole bummer. The previous, more discreet, paypal module doesn't work with drupal 5.1 and I had to go with this gawdier uglier version. Sorry about that. Mainly I'm having major difficulties with sendmail. It just refuses to work. I've fought the sendmail battles a few times in the past, but I think it's gonna beat me down this time. I'm actually considering postfix or some other app, suggestions welcomed.
So, for the next day or two, if you have signed up at tuxmachines and haven't received your first-time login password, you can email me at tuxmachines.at.gmail.com and I'll set you up one and send you an email. But do please include your username used.
The rss feed from the gallery is broken as well. Another "I'll get it later" situation. I attempted to upgrade it to the latest stable, but the import of the albums didn't work, so I'll try again later after we have the server working well.
I'm not sure all will come back up automatically after reboot yet. So, there will be further restart tests later on tonight or in the wee hours of the morning. We shouldn't be down too long at a time for those.
There is a new theme available for those who create an account and like to log in. It is called bluebreeze and looks really good. I almost went with it as default. If you notice any site elements missing from it, let me know.
Also if there are other Debian etch on server users, I could use some advice on how often you recommend updating apps. I really plan to sit tight for the most part until it goes stable and hopefully update to stable at that point. I'd appreciate some input on that as I'm a noob to debian.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your patience and I hope the worst is over.
