Thoughts on Gnome roadmap
I've just have a look at the Gnome roadmap. The roadmap is giving the expected features of future versions of the gnome platform ( 2.20, 2.22, 2.x, 3.0 ). There are some interesting things to note :
* D-BUS support in deskbar and session management [gnome 2.20]
* codecs support as plugins in ekiga + SIP presence support + IAX2 support + better win32 support with DirectX support [gnome 2.20]. I'm waiting also for g729 and g723.1 support in ekiga to allow ekiga to be a usefull softphone in an enterprise or in a call-center
* Forms and note supports in Evince [gnome 2.20]

Samsung, Red Hat to Work on Linux Drivers for Future TechThe metaverse is expected to uproot system design as we know it, and Samsung is one of many hardware vendors re-imagining data center infrastructure in preparation for a parallel 3D world. Samsung is working on new memory technologies that provide faster bandwidth inside hardware for data to travel between CPUs, storage and other computing resources.
